Abstract

The Crusades, which caused hundreds of thousands of deaths and captives, also caused some changes in the demographic structure of the society. On the one hand, these demographic changes have caused families to break up, and on the other hand, they have led to new marriages for the continuation of the generation. Some of these marriages took place among the Muslim emirates fighting with the Crusaders. In addition, orders related to marriages have protected their lands against each other. However, the main purpose in marriages; The elimination of the animosity between the Muslim states, the establishment of an Islamic union and a more effective struggle against the Crusaders. In this study, the marriages of some Muslim leaders struggled with the Crusaders were emphasized. It is given by following the chronological order that they marry with whom and for what reasons. Thus, it was attempted to reveal the importance of some marriages that took place in that period for Muslims and a political move in the fight against the Crusaders. In this study, generally sources of Islamic history were used. However, Latin, Armenian and Syriac chronicles were also used in some aspects. In addition, the study is enriched with various works published in different languages.
