One of the basic functions of education is its economic function. Each country aims at strengthening their economies by raising individuals in the quality and quantity needed by the national economy via the economic function of education. In many researches, a positive relationship was found between education levels and economic growth of countries. Education raises individuals in line with the needs of a country by providing them with certain skills. Through values education, it is aimed at providing individuals with values such as industriousness, honesty, responsibility, patriotism, cleanliness and being scientific. This study was conducted to determine whether there is a difference between the value perception of business people, who are in the economic system, in work life and their perception of values education. Survey method, which is among the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. The questions of the survey were prepared by the researcher following literature review and obtaining the expert opinion. The values in the questions were comprised of the values in the social studies curriculum and the survey was prepared in the 5-point Likert type. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 packaged program. Exploratory factor analysis was applied to specify the factor structure of the question groups in the study. The independent t-test analysis was executed for the dimensions of sex and birth place. Variance analysis (ANOVA) test was employed to compare the dimensions as per age, education and work experience. Diac paired comparison test was applied for determining the different groups. Matched t-test was used for the difference in the mean scores of the dimensions and correlation test was performed for the examination of the relationship between the dimensions. The study group of the research consists of 203 business people from the central district of Giresun Province. The study group was determined with the appropriate sampling method. As a result of the research, significant differences were observed between the value perception of the participants in work life and their perception of values education. The study is important in respect of determining the perspective of business people, who are among the most important elements of the economic system, on values education given in schools.
