Abstract

Fairy Tales were always around everywhere where people lived. The first time they were passed on from generation in an oral form and then they were written down. Every unwritten work was forgotten and just the written one are still alive today. The orgin of the fairy tales, the oldest form of the literature is not clear. Over time, the stories changed and were shaped by the character of its culture and its tradition of the nation they were told in. Fairy tales are not just important for children, they are as important to adults. They reflect situations about life and most fairy tales contain a teaching, which are shown to us through contradictionary concept. In this work we try to analyse the fairy tales with comparative literature analysis and use structural and psychoanalysis methods while trying to stay close to the texts. We aim to win different points of view by looking at selected fairy tales and their depiction of gender roles and their contrary description of the authors, Grimm’s siblings and Hans Christian Andersen.
