Abstract

In terms of political, cultural and social history, India is not a foreign geography for Turkish Language and Turks. There is an interaction of 2500 years as of known history. The North, West and Middle parts of India have been ruled by various Turkish states for hundreds of years. Turkish governed Sindh for more than 400 years in Sindh, which began with the rule of Sakian up to 1843 the British administration. Sindhi, which has 30-35 million speakers, is one of the most important languages in terms of Turkish Language and Turkish history. In this study we have briefed shortly history of Sindh and Sindhi language and the its historical background related to the Turks and the words, sufixes and reproduced hybrid words borrowed from Turkish into the Sindh language were listed. Nine volumes of seven different dictionaries have been scanned by us totally. As a result of our scans, we have detected 132 Turkish words/elements in Sindhi Language. We have tried to give their equivalents in Turkish dictionaries those hold more than 35 volumes. These words are classified according to five different phonetical/semantical structures and 13 different thematic groups. We prepared graphics up for said groups. This study is among first ones in Turkey about the Turkish loanwords in Sindhi. We believe in that this study will contribute on Sindhi Language Studies for further detailed studies.We made these codes a graphic. The study is important because it is the first research to reveal the landing and relations between Turkish and Sindhi. It is thought that it will be the basis for the next scientific studies.
