The purpose of this study is to determine academicians’ education and professional formations related to the department they work. In accordance with this purpose; academicians’, working in the tourism guidance department of higher education institutions at the undergraduate level in Turkey, academic background were examined. This research, which was designed by the screening model, included academicians who work in the tourism guidance departments of universities only at undergraduate level higher education institutions. Within the scope of the research, 2017 ÖSYS (Student Selection and Placement System) Guide to Higher Education Programs and Quotas were examined and a list of faculties and vocational schools accepting students in the tourism guidance program in the academic year 2017-2018 was issued. According to the list, the websites of faculties and schools were scanned and the names of teaching staff and assistants (academicians) were reached. In order to reach the resume of academicians, YÖK ACADEMIC system was used. According to research findings; tourism guidance training in the 2017-2018 academic year at the undergraduate level are given in 18 provinces, 22 universities (3 private universities) and 24 faculty in Turkey. 137 academicians work at the department of tourism guidance in higher education institutions. When graduates, masters and doctoral graduates of academicians are examined; it has been determined that the vast majority have graduated from any higher education program/department.
