Headdress is one of the complementary items of clothing and occupies an important place in the history of dressing. Turkish women's headdresses, whether used for glamorization or to demonstrate the status of women in the society, existed within fashion trends of the period in different styles. In this study it is set forth that these headdresses were used by Turks almost unchanged since the times of Central Asia until the last years of the Ottoman Empire; and after the acceptance of Islam, these headdresses continued to be used with head-covering fabrics. Under the scope of this study, among the headdresses used by the palace women of the Ottoman period, only the examples having their roots in the Central Asian headdress models were selected, the connections were compared for the first time, aiming to make new determinations by making an evaluation in the light of the up-to-date researches and visual data.
