Abstract

Purpose of the study; to examine the depression status of 9th and 10th year students who do and don’t do physical exercises, in high school in Gaziantep city. The sample of the research; In the 2014-2015 education year, there are 592 students in total of 194 female and 398 male students attending 9th and 10th grades in 67 secondary education institutions. Collection of data; The Depression Scale for Children (CDS) developed by Maria Kovacs (1985) and adapted to Turkish by Öy (1991) was used to determine the depression status of the students in terms of different variables determined within the scope of the research. In the analysis of the data, SPSS 18 statistical package program was used. Independent Sample T-tests were used to determine the difference between the mean scores of the two groups. Kruskal Wallis test was used to make more group comparisons. As a result; The results of the study showed that there was no statistically significant difference (p <0.05) between the age, gender and monthly income variables of 9th and 10th grade students whodo and don’t do physical exercisesin high school.
