Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the teacher education system in Turkey by considering the teacher training quality standards. This study was designed as a systematic literature review. Data set of the study composed of 91 basic researches and 25 statistical reports. Data sets were grouped into teacher training quality standarts. To test the distribution of effect sizes in data sets; research bias, heterogeneity and moderator analysis were done. Findings show that the number of faculty in education colleges is not enough for educating qualified teachers. The effect of college and school collobaration model on teacher qualifications is small. Considering the KPSS scores, programs of educational colleges are relatively successful than the programs of science and literature colleges.Constructivist models are more effective than traditional ones in career development processes for teacher cadidates. And also it is clear that the environment of university and college has an effect on emotinal characteristics of teacher candidates. In sum, the quality of teacher tranining programs should be improved and developed constantly to provide students better qualified teachers.
