Abstract

Migration is a very complex phenomenon. Though, migrants may have different migration motivation (voluntery, forced), may experience different kinds of events during migration trajectory and different acculturation processes after migration, migration is an important life event for all migrants. Despite the fact that literature indicates differing results over the mental health problems of migrants, many points increased risk for specific migrant groups. This study will examine the mental health of migrants in the light of different risk factors which were reported in the 3 stages model of Bhugra (premigration, migration, postmigration). The aim of this study is to display the important risk factors for mental health problems among migrants, especially to those mental health professionals who provide service to different migrant groups.
