Abstract

Political violence in Turkey has climbed in a dangerous manner especially years between 1968-1971. Separation between various classes and groups has grown in these years. With the support of the press, two important political events has accelerated to the 12 Mart 1971 Memorandum. These political events are; ‘Kanlı Pazar’ known as bloody sunday, that occured in 16 February 1969 and workers protests in 15-16 June 1970. Society became more restless because of subjective press about these events, so the 12 March 1971 memorandum came out from Turkish Armed Forces. They gave co-signed memorandum to president for the government's resignation and the formation of a new government.The aim of this study is; approach of press in these two important political developments and it’s effect to the 12 March 1971 Memorandum.
