Abstract

When examining the works of H. S. Moore closely who is one of the leading artists in Modern Sculpture, it is possible to observe in almost all of the works that the artist has used the basic principles of the sculpture by reflecting them in the works at the same time through the organic principles protecting the natural order of the objects and the effort to dominate three dimensional entirety protecting the whole weight of the materials. The materials which he has used in the sculptures are of great significance. In the early works, H. Moore was influenced by Kiklat islands and the art examples of Aztec and Maya civilizations originally from Mexico. Although organic features about human beings generally have never been lacked in the works, the relationship between mass and space are always in the forefront in the abstract works.
