Abstract

The development of Internet and Information Technologies has brought various changes in many areas; also in the education area. This development shifted teacher-student interaction from physical to virtual environment. In this study, the contribution of Facebook as a social media website has been studied. The effects of sharing and communication-based infrastructure of Facebook in higher education have been investigated. In this context, data gathering process have been completed by implementing a survey to Sakarya University Faculty of Business Administration students. Collected data has been analyzed with the help of Spss 20 and various results have been achieved. After the evaluation of the results achieved, it can be concluded that Facebook is mostly used to communicate among university students. When the results have been evaluated in terms of lecture following and sharing, students’ low level of participation has been reached.
