Abstract

Metafiction, which is accepted as the most distinctive characteristics of the postmodern novel at the present time, is a set of techniques which makes highlighting the fiction and presenting writing process of the novel as the actual theme of the novel possible. Having been firstly used in 1970, metafiction had also been used in romantic and realistic/naturalistic novels – despite being for different purpose and density – previously and the metafiction being used in postmodern novels includes some impressions of these techniques. Orhan Pamuk who is known with his postmodern novels in modern Turkish literature, used many metafiction techniques in Beyaz Kale and the postermodern novels he wrote afterwards. In our writing we will identify a metafiction technique, which becomes like Orhan Pamuk`s sign, characters introduce themselves as the author of the novel in the novel that factual reader reads.
