Abstract

Esrar-ı Hikmet or Hikâyet-i Ebu Ali Sina ve Biraderi Ebu’l-Haris, are the first of the prose works compiled by Dervish Hasan Medhi and presented to the 3rd Murad from the 15th Century of stories that the life of the İbni Sînâ in mythical style. Esrar-ı Hikmet is a work of art that reflects the characteristics of the litrary value and the language spoken by the people at the time and far from the language of art. When the work is examined in general, it can be said that it has a fluent and fairy tale expression enriched with works, word phrases, idoms and proverbs that are suitable for the natural pronanciation of Turkish Esrar-ı hikmet, which attracts attention with quite plain language that reflects the everyday sayings of the period and with its vocabulary, most of which has survived to the present day, bringing extraordinary qualities to the medical knowledge of the people’s İbni Sînâ reveals how the shaped İbni Sina in his dream and brought it to the rank of Lokman Hekim. In this artical, the work know as Esrar-ı Hikmet has not been previously promoted in the field, in Ankara University Faculty of Theology Library manuscripts section, it is aimed to intreduce a registered copy with the number 36104 and examine it in terms of vocabulary. Turkish story telling goes back to pre-İslamic period. It is know that many folk tales are written together with the oral traditition but most of the stories are waiting to be examined in libraries. When we consider the work done on the other copies of the Esrar-ı Hikmet that the stories show significant differences in terms of their structure, language and style, the text reveals that it is very important that new variants appear and bring them to the field.
