Abstract

Theoretical and empirical studies support the idea of liberalization of international trade. Countries open to international trade are developing faster. World Trade Organization works to facilitate international trade along with liberalization. Facilitating international trade is beneficial for all that living on earth. Trade facilitation is transparent, predictable and straightforward border procedures that expedite the movement of goods across borders. Trade facilitation helps consumers to benefit from lower prices, higher quality and a greater range of goods. The World Trade Organization Trade Facilitation Agreement entered into force in 2017. With this agreement is expected to increase world trade by an average of $ 1 trillion a year. Transaction costs are estimated to decrease by 14%. The waiting time of the goods at customs will be reduced by 3-5 days In this study; implications of the trade facilitation process carried out within the scope of the World Trade Organization on the global trade and Turkey’s regulations to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Trade Facilitation Agreement are examined
