Abstract

State is the dominant element in economic activities and plays a historical role in the coordination of economic development in state-dependent business systems. When the Turkish business system is examined in general, it is seen that the state has maintained its place and importance as a founding element and as the main actor in the periodical changes. The state is not an external actor independent of society, but a structure that determines its context. The fact that the state is a founding actor in the Turkish business system has led to the fact that the organizations adjust their positions to the state rather than the market conditions. The aim of this study is to reveal the structural features of the Turkish business system and the historical role of the state in the system within the framework of national business systems approach.
