Abstract

As a result of significant developments in the field of information technology, it is now almost impossible to do certain jobs without using computer. In the light of these developments, it is now seen that computers are used in every workplace. The intensive use of computer at this level may cause some problems from a legal point of view. Even so, although employer forbids the use of computers for personal purposes, insistent attitude of the worker in this regard can cause the employment contract to be terminated due to a valid reason by the employer. The concept of using the computer for personal purposes in the workplace is also referred to as cyberslacking and there are also some other opinions which assert that using computers at work for personal purposes may have some benefits. The legal results in the light of 4857 Numbered Labor Law and Supreme Court decisions will be considered in the study, taking into account the useful aspects of cyberslacking.
