Abstract

In this article, by examining the methods written by Aydin Oran, Zeynep Barut and Hakan Şensoy, the differences and similarities in violin practice have been discussed. The lack of methods in violin practice in Turkish music was emphasized and thus the effects to the practice process were detailed. The meshk system which is applied to unwritten musical pieces as part of the Turkish music tradition, is a method also applied in saz tutelage and because saz musicians are trained with this method it has brought about the devlopment of Turkish musical instruments tutelage being more constant and fixed when compared to Western instrument tutelage. It is for this reason that there is a need for another method in Turkish music violin tutelage. Various methods have been written arising from the need for a different method.Among the academically presented methods written in the last few years, the works of Aydın Oran, Zeynep Barut and Hakan Şensoy have been examined. This paper has attempted to put forth a comparative analysis of the observations and contributions of the three authors.
