Abstract

Turkey is a country with a very high potential for wind energy in terms of its geographical position. For this reason, wind power plants become widespread, and a large number of enterprises are rapidly installed, especially in areas with high wind potential. Because of the effects of wind power plants on cultural, social and natural structures, some local people support the WPP’s, while some opposes the establishment of wind power plants in the region where they live. In this study, it was aimed to determine the approach of the people to wind power plants that operates in the region they live. In this context, Alaçatı Wind Energy Power Plant, which is one of the first wind power plants (WPP) in Turkey, was examined by field studies and opinions of local people about the WPP were collected and evaluated by a questionnaire. As a result; it has been determined that the people living in the selected area have positive attitudes towards the WPPs, and among the proposals given to the participants "renewable energy production should be supported by the government" was the most accepted one while the "opposition to wind power plants" expression got the least participatory.
