CYBER BULLYING – VICTIMIZATION EXPERIENCES OF SCIENCE TEACHER CANDIDATES AND REVIEW OF PREDICTORS

Abstract

This study aims to determine cyber bullying related behaviors of science teacher candidates. Research model used is one of the screening models, namely relational screening model. Population covers 134 teacher candidates, attending to Cumhuriyet University, Department of Science in the academic year of 2016 and 2017, who were selected with simple random sampling method. Data collection tool used is “Cyber Bully / Victim Questionnaire and Scale”. T test was used on collected data for groups independent of parametric tests, for determining whether being a cyber-bully differs based on gender and multiple regression analysis was used for predicting victimization because of cyber bullying. As a result of analyzing the data obtained from scale, it is confirmed that nearly one out of eight science teacher candidates was cyber bullied and there is no meaningful gender-related difference; cyber medias and duration of daily internet use account for 31.3 % of total variance related to cyber bullying teacher candidates. Besides, data collected from the questionnaire was analyzed, interpreted and suggestions were made accordingly.
