Abstract

Voice has become a prominent factor in film narrative and has been understood by th audience since it entered the history of cinema. It has an important task for understanding characters’ representation and explanation of plot-line. In classical narrative cinema, women characters’ representation become a pleasure of men’s gaze and voices’s usage strategy comes into prominence for the watching experience of men audience. In contemporary narrative cinema, voice is used with different ways so women characters’ representation with their body and voice brings differentness when they identificate themselves with a character. Voice fact, finds out differentness in terms of women characters aesthetic representation with their silence and sometimes with their voice in classical narrative cinema and in contemporary narrative cinema. In this manner with this study, Eşkıya, Köksüz, Gemide’s women characters and their voices were examined wtih regard to representation and argued audiences’ identification moments with this context. Identification with this characters in terms of audiences examined based on feminist film theoricians’ questionings and women characters representation with their voice’s in film narrative were examined too with their relationship’s.
