Abstract

In the history of music, many composers reflected folk music materials to their works and obtained folkloric tones with various orchestration techniques and different instruments. Especially before the twentieth century, with the emergence of innovative approaches in every field and the political transformations of the period have revealed the expression of national identity in music. These orientations, which were developed through folk music of nations, led many researchers to conduct folk music research and led to the production of new works based on the material obtained. One of these researchers, Béla Bartók, used various folk music materials in 44 Duos which he composed at the request of Erich Doflein. The aim of the study is to examine the 44 Duos by Béla Bartók for two violins in terms of the practices of folkloric performance. The research is based on descriptive model. Document analysis method was used in qualitative research methods and the related literature was scanned and the notes of the obtained works were examined. The findings were interpreted according to the data obtained by using descriptive data analysis method.
