Abstract

Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov,who was born in 1905 in Vyoshenskaya, Russia, joins the revolution at a young age. Sholokhov, who witnessed the civil war in his country with the emergence of the October Revolution in 1917, masterfully reflects his impressions on his works too. His first work “Tales of the Don”, “The Quiet Don” , which won him the Stalin Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature, “Destiny of a man” “They Fought for Their Country” like in his works exposing the war with all its nakedness, he shows the brutal face of war to the reader. The story of “Destiny of a man” written by Sholokhov in 1957, depicting the life of a captured soldier, reveals the pain and the drama of millions of people during the war shows with great simplicity. Described in this story,it is not only the fate of a soldier, but the fate of all humanity exposed to war. In this study, the structural features of the work are tried to be examined by using the text-based analysis method.
