THE RISK ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF ISTANBUL AYDIN UNIVERSITY MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY EDUCATION LABORATORY

Abstract
Prevention and improvement works have started in parallel with the development of occupational health and safety concept in our country. The main objective of occupational health and safety is to prevent or eliminate possible damages to people in working life. While the laboratory environment contains psychological / physically challenging factors for the employees, it is a working area that is intertwined with the hazards. The risks that may be encountered in the laboratory can be divided into 4 groups as biological, chemical, physical and ergonomic risk factors. These risk groups have a high probability of injury for employees. The importance of occupational health and safety practices in education helth laboratories has been observed that compliance with recommendations is one of the effective ways of combating these unwanted situations. Further researches in the field of occupational health and safety are needed in order to effectively identify the real risks in the institutions or organizations that provide services in the health field such as Medical Microbiology Training Laboratory. In this article, information about risk analysis and evaluation study performed in Istanbul Aydın University Medical Microbiology Education Laboratory is given.
