Abstract

The researches about that have been conducted so far are generally focused on the weaving in that research with composition techniques and materials. It is very important to change this perspective to understand historical, social, and cultural development for making aesthetic comment on weaving. In this study, the composition of the selected-10 weaving belonging to Mersin- Mut Hacı Ahmetli District was investigated in terms of the design principles. In this research, an effort was shown to create a model in terms of applying the design principles of weaving. Design principles used in design include Repetition, Rhythm, Balance (Symmetric Balance / Asymmetric Balance), Contrast (Color contrast / Contrast in size / Direction contrast) Unity, Sovereignty, Compliance, Koram. In our study, we, with Prof.Dr. Ilham Enveroglu, determined the principles of Composition, Repetition, Rhythm, Balance (Symmetric Balance / Asymmetric Balance), Contrast (Color Contrast / Contrast to Size / Direction Contrast). Studying under these principles would bring a different aesthetic comment toweaving. Even though these principles that should be all or a few in a good design are not in the literature related to weaving, they have been practically applied. It is thought that a new perspective will emerge when the weaving that were made in the past without the design principles are designed with the designed principles
