IN THE FRAME OF SOCIAL POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS,17TH CENTURY RUSSIAN CHURCH'S RASKOL

In the context of Russian History, raskol event that referred to a pathological condition in the society is defined as a consequence of church reforms' process that initiated by the leading of Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich by the mid of 17th century onwards. A division takes place firstly in the church and then among people,by the leading of Tsar ,as a result of church reforms that initiated by the Patriarch Nikon. As a result of this division, a group emerges that called as Old Believers in the social life of Russia and this situation becomes one of the major problems of the Russian history. A compelling struggle that continues throughout centuries has started between Old Believers and church and this struggle drags Old Believers to live them in the places of solitary and far from society. This event that is effective in almost all areas of social life is generally evaluated associating with ignorance of the people as a response to religious rituals and changes in texts. However this event that resulted in division of people that holding same values in the same land is based on much deeper social, political and religious origions In this context, in our study it is aimed to discuss this event by making sense as a versatile phenomenon and being as a event that arising from reform works that initiated in the religion rules and rituals and having political, ideological foundations.
