THE ROLE OF THE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION AND ETHICS LESSON FOR OBTAINING OF VALUE OF MERCY

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to search the effect of feelings/moral for students’ affection with the various activities prepared additively to curriculum as a part of Religious Culture and Ethics 5th, 6th,7th and 8th grade. Pre test- post test control group quasiexperimental design was used in the study.The study was carried out with 90 for experimental group,84 for control group one hundred seventy four students in total from 5th, 6th,7th and 8th grades in 2018-2019 academic year in a secondary school which is located in a village in İzmit, Kocaeli. Lessons were taught as predicted in curriculum in control group. On the other hand , enriched content and event schedule was conducted in experimental group by researcher to raise feeling for affection. In this context, content and activities involve lots of activities like visual,video, creative drama, worksheet, poster, banner, station teaching, writing composition. Research continued for 5 weeks starting from the November to January. Before starting study, affection questionnaire was carried out to experimental and control group a week ago. Then, content activities were conducted with experimental group during 5 weeks. After completed the study, the last affection “mercy scale” was conducted again to both group.. Research data was obtained from The Turkish version of the mercy scale which developed by Pommier and Seher Akdeniz and Mehmet Engin Deniz was used as a measurement tool. The data obtained from affection “mercy scale” for problem of research within the frame of main purpose of study was analyzed with content analysis. At the end of the research, it was revealed that activities performed with experimental group, improved students’ feeling/moral for affection positively.
