Abstract

This research aims to reveal the supervisor perceptions of teacher candidates who have graduated but have not yet started teaching profession by means of metaphors. The sample of the research consists of 65 teacher candidates in the center of Batman province who attend different educational institutions which provide training in preparation for the test (KPSS) to be assigned as a teacher. The question "A supervisor is like …….. . Because ......... ." was asked to teacher candidates. Participants were asked to complete the sentence and produce metaphors for the instructional supervisors. The data contained in the questionnaire were resolved by content analysis technique. From the qualitative analysis of the data obtained, it has been seen that the teacher candidates are predominantly resorting to negative metaphors for the instructional supervisors Therefore it can be said that the teacher candidates have a negative perception on instructional supervisors before they start their career.
