Intra-party democracy in political parties is an inevitable issue in pluralist and participatory regimes. Unless oligarchic tendencies and pressures on political parties are eliminated, intra-party democracy cannot be mentioned at all. In order for the implementation of democracy by restructuring the political parties, the essence of intra-party democracy must be comprehended. By reconsidering the decision-making mechanisms, such as organizational structures of political parties, member and delegate systems, party administrations and methods of nomination, it should be paved the way for the democratization of the political regime. As in all democratic institutions, leadership has an important role in political parties. Leader attitudes and behaviors vary according to her/his political culture and consciousness, education level, economic condition and his/her commitment to democratic values. Therefore, the level of democracy in intra-party differs by the power of the leader.
