Abstract
Hip hop, gerek kültürel gerekse sound bağlamında kendinden sonraki tüm popüler müzik türlerini oldukça etkilemiş ve süreç içerisinde ana akım haline gelmiştir. Günümüz pop müziği ve kimi popüler müzik türlerinde yoğun olarak hip hop menşeili tınıların kullanılması da bir bakıma hip hop müziğin kendi estetiğini yaratabilmiş olmasının kanıtıdır. Hip hop’ın bu sound hegemonyasının tarihsel sürecini de doğduğu dönem olan 1970’lerin başlarından itibaren ele almak yerinde olacaktır. Disko, funk, soul gibi dönemin diğer popüler müzik kayıtlarının standart dışı tekniklerle çalınmasıyla şekillenen hip hop sound’u, 1980’lerden itibaren yaşanan teknolojik gelişmeler çerçevesinde tınısal karakterini yaratmaya ve uluslararası fenomen haline gelmeye başlamıştır. Bu çalışmada hip hop’ın ‘altın çağı’nın başlangıcı olarak da kabul edilen süreci de içine alarak 1970 – 1990 arası dönemde hip hop prodüksiyonunda kullanılan teknolojiler irdelenmiştir.

Abstract
Hip hop has influenced all subsequent popular music genres both culturally and sound-wise and has become mainstream in the process. The fact that today's pop music and some popular music genres intensively use hip hop-originated tunes is, in a way, proof that hip hop music has been able to create its own aesthetic. It would be appropriate to consider the historical process of this sound hegemony of hip hop from its birth in the early 1970s. The hip hop sound, which was shaped by playing other popular music recordings of the period such as disco, funk and soul with non-standard techniques, started to create its timbral character and become an international phenomenon within the framework of technological developments since the 1980s. This study examines the technologies used in hip hop production in the period between 1970 and 1990, including the period considered as the beginning of the 'golden age' of hip hop.
