Abstract
Önemli bir ilim havzası olan Mısır’ın, İslam dünyasındaki merkezi konumu ve çeşitli düşüncelere ev sahipliği yapması ilgi odağı olmasına neden olmuştur. 19. Yüz yılda Mısır’da yaşayan bazı Müslüman entelektüeller, Batı düşüncesinin meydan okumaları karşısında İslam aleminin çağın gerisinde kaldığını düşünerek bu durumdan kurtulmak için çareler aramaya başlamış ve bu arayışlar neticesinde ıslah ve tecdit hareketleri doğmuştur. Mevcut kötü durumdan kurtulmak için ileri sürülen öneriler arasında dini ilimlerin ıslah edilmesi de yer almış ve doğal olarak sünnetle ilgili meseleler de gündeme gelmiştir. Sünnet konusu gündeme gelince tabii olarak metin tenkidi meselesi bu önerilerin bir parçası olmuştur. Rivayetlerin değerlendirilmesinde gelenekte de izleri görülen metin tenkidine öncelik tanınması gerektiği düşüncesi, ıslah ve tecdit fikrini savunanlar tarafından ileri sürülmüştür. Mısır’da ciddi tartışmalara sebep olan bu durum, farklı yaklaşımların ortaya çıkmasına zemin hazırlarken sosyal hayatın muhtelif alanlarında da ciddi etkiler meydana getirmiştir.

Abstract
Being an important scientific basin, Egypt's central position in the Islamic world and its hosting of various ideas caused it to be a centre of attention. Some Muslim intellectuals living in Egypt in the 19th century, thinking that the Islamic world was behind the times in the face of the challenges of Western thought, started to seek solutions to get rid of this situation, and as a result of these searches, reform and renewal movements were born. Among the suggestions put forward to get rid of the current bad situation, the improvement of religious sciences was also included, and naturally, issues related to sunnah came to the fore. When the issue of sunnah came to the fore, naturally, the issue of text criticism became a part of these proposals. The idea that text criticism, whose traces are also seen in the tradition, should be prioritized in the evaluation of the narrations, has been put forward by the advocates of the idea of reform and renewal. While this situation, which caused serious debates in Egypt, paved the way for the emergence of different approaches, it also had serious effects in various areas of social life.
