Abstract
Bu araştırmanın amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin salgın hastalıklar ve pandemi bağlamında güncel olaylar öğretimine ilişin görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Pandeminin insan ve toplum sağlığını tehdit etmesi ve halen güncelliğini koruması, gelecekte benzer durumların yaşanması ihtimali düşünüldüğünde sosyal bilgiler dersi kapsamında güncel olay olarak ele alınması gerekliliği ortaya çıkmaktadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunda 2021-2022 eğitim öğretim yılında, Antalya il merkezinde Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı’na bağlı ortaokullarda görev yapmakta olan 12 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni yer almaktadır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Veriler araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan açık uçlu soru formu ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda öğretmenlerin pandemi sürecinin sosyal bilgiler eğitiminde güncel olaylar öğretimi kapsamında ele alınması ve sosyal bilgiler dersinin toplumsal konuları içermesi nedeniyle ders kapsamında tarihten örneklerle salgın hastalıklara değinilmesi gerektiğini düşündükleri tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca kısıtlamaların ardından yüz yüze eğitime dönüldüğünde işledikleri ilk sosyal bilgiler dersinde pandeminin gelişimine ve tedbirlere yönelik eğitici videolar, drama, örnek olaylar ve görsellerle zenginleştirilmiş bir ders işlediklerini belirtmişlerdir. Bununla birlikte sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin, derslerinde güncel olay kullanmaya önem verdikleri belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları doğrultusunda sosyal bilgiler dersinde güncel olaylar öğretimi konusunda öğretmenler için uygulamalı eğitimler düzenlenmesi ve Pandeminin eğitim öğretim sürecine etkilerinin tüm yönleriyle incelenebilmesi açısından yüz yüze eğitime dönüş deneyimlerinin aktarıldığı araştırmalar yapılması önerilebilir.

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine the views of social studies teachers on teaching current events in the context of epidemics and pandemics. Given that the pandemic still poses a threat to human and public health and is a current issue, as well as the possibility of similar situations occurring in the future, it is necessary to consider it as a current event within the context of a social studies course. The research study group comprises 12 social studies teachers working in secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Antalya city center during the academic year 2021-2022. The case study, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. Data were collected with an open-ended question form created by the researcher. Descriptive analysis was used to examine the collected data. As a result of the research, it was determined that the teachers believed that the pandemic should be handled within the scope of teaching current events in social studies education and that because the social studies course includes social issues, epidemics should be mentioned with historical examples within the scope of the course. Furthermore, they stated that when they returned to face-to-face education after the restrictions, they taught a lesson on the development of the pandemic and measures in their first social studies lesson, which was enriched with educational videos, drama, case studies, and visuals. In addition, it has been determined that social studies teachers place a high value on incorporating current events into their lessons. In line with the research results, it can be recommended that practical training for teachers on teaching current events in the social studies course be conducted, as well as research in which the experiences of returning to face-to-face education be transferred, in order to examine the effects of the pandemic on the education and training process in all aspects.
