Abstract
Ahmed Adnan Saygun, erken Cumhuriyet döneminin en önemli bestecilerinden biri olarak kabul edilmektedir ve Türk müziğine birçok yeniliğin onunla birlikte girdiği düşünülmektedir. Aynı zamanda, müzik tarihinde ‘Türk Beşleri’ olarak adlandırılan beş Türk besteciden biridir. Saygun viyola konçertosu ise, bestecinin en büyük başyapıtlarından birisi olarak kabul edilmektedir ve klasik müzik dalında önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu konçertoyu incelemeden önce, Saygun’un yaşadığı dönem, bu döneme göre bestecinin stil ve müziğinin nasıl etkilendiği ve ne şekilde geliştiği iyi bir biçimde kavranmalıdır. Saygun’u iyi bir şekilde anlayabilmek için Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin ilk kuruluş yıllarında eserlerini nasıl bestelediği, kendisini ve kompozisyonlarını nerede ve nasıl geliştirdiği ve bir Türk olarak nasıl büyük bir besteci haline geldiği araştırılması gereken unsurlar arasındadır. Bu bilgiler ışığında, Saygun viyola konçertosunun daha anlaşılır ve kavranabilir bir hale gelebileceği söylenebilir. Tarihsel arka planı incelemek, viyola konçertosunun analizinde ilk adım olarak düşünülebilir. Çünkü tarihte o dönemde ne olduğunu bilerek konçertoyu incelemek, analiz etmeyi kolaylaştıracaktır. Konçertonun hangi şartlar altında bestelendiği, bir Türk geleneği olarak konçertoda hangi unsurların ön plana çıktığı, ilk icranın nerede gerçekleştiği ve tarihsel sürece göre bu icranın nasıl yapıldığı cevap bulacak sorulardan olacaktır. Türk müzik tarihinin en önemli bestecilerinden Ahmed Adnan Saygun ve onun başyapıtlarından biri olarak kabul edilen viyola konçertosunun incelenmesi bu araştırmanın temelini oluşturmaktadır. Bu şekilde, Saygun’u, eserlerini ve bestecinin Türk müziğine olan katkılarını daha geniş kitlelere aktarabilmek amaçlanmıştır.

Abstract
Ahmed Adnan Saygun is accepted one of the most significant composer of the early Republican period of Turkey and it is considered that many innovations entered to Turkish music with him. Besides, in the music history he is cited in the composer group ‘Turkish Five’. Likewise, viola concerto of Saygun, it is also accepted one of the masterpiece compositions of Saygun and it has an important place in the classical music branch. Before examining the concerto, the period which Saygun lived, the style of Saygun according to his living period and how his music was affected and developed should be comprehended literally. To be able to understand Saygun well-rounded, it should be searched the times of early establishment of Turkey Republic, how he composed, how he developed himself and his compositions and as a Turkish citizen how he became a very known composer. In the light of these informations, viola concerto of Saygun can become more understandable and comprehensible. Furthermore, examining the historical background, it can be considered as a first step of analysis of concerto. Because it is important to know the conditons of period that Saygun lived and thus, analysis of concerto will become easier. Moreover, in which conditions the concerto was composed, as a Turkish tradition which element is prominent, where the premiere took place and how this premiere actualized according to the historical background will be the questions that it will be answered. Ahmed Adnan Saygun who is one of the most important composers of Turkish music history and his viola concerto which is accepted as one of the masterpieces of Saygun will constitute the foundation of this research. Thus, it is aimed to introduce Saygun himself, his compositions and his contributions to Turkis music to the people who want to know more about Saygun.
