Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to adapt Micheal's (2014) Adult Scale of Parent Attachment,(ASPA) Father Form to Turkish and investigate its psychometric properties. The study sample consists of 200 young adults, 122 (61%) girls and 78 (39%) boys. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, it was determined that the total explained variance was .65%, and the items were grouped under five factors, similar to the original scale. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, it was seen that the fit indexes of the model were at a good level (χ 2 /df-1.833, GFI-.90, CFI-.92, IFI-.93, SRMR-.60, RMSEA-.065). The Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI) father form was used for similar scale validity. A positive and significant relationship was found between the ASPA and PBI (Cronbach Alpha .76). Test-retest correlation coefficient was found r= .84, (p<.001). As a result of the research, ASPA father form was found a valid andreliable measurement tool.
