Abstract

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to reveal the perception of learning organization of tourism employees and whether they show proactive working behavior in the institutions they work based on this perception. This study is structured in qualitative research method and exploratory research design. The study was carried out using in-depth interview method with nine employees working in different tourism enterprises. During the interviews, 11 questions were asked to the participants and the answers were analyzed by content analysis. As a result of the research, it is revealed that the participants generally consider their firms as a support and time provider for education and development; however, when the questions and the participants’ thoughts are deepened, they have negative thoughts. Due to the fact that the learning organization perceptions of the participants also include negative thoughts, it is seen that especially some participants do not display proactive working behavior consciously. Participants who demonstrate proactive work behavior emphasize that they demonstrate these behaviors in order to improve themselves and their careers.
