Abstract
Bu makalede; yaylı çalgılar ailesinin önemli bir üyesi olan viyolonselin evrimsel aşamaları ve tarihsel gelişimi ile Türk müziği ve Batı müziğine girişi ve gelişim süreci, kullanım alanları ve iki müzik türündeki farklılıkları ele alınmıştır. Enstrümanın Türk Müziği’ndeki ve Batı alanındaki tarihsel gelişimi, yapısal evrimi incelenmiş, dönemin siyasi çerçevesi ile beraber değerlendirilmiş, literatürdeki önemli icracılar anlatılmıştır. Türk Müziği’nin ortaya çıkışı, enstrümanların müziğe dahil oluş süreçleri, Cumhuriyetle beraber verilen önem anlatılmıştır. Dönemin ünlü icracıları, enstrümana başlama süreçleri, bu alanda beste yapmış olan ünlü kompozitörler ve eserlerine yer verilmiştir. Enstrumanın hangi ihtiyaca karşılılık olarak ortaya çıktığı ve ortaya çıkışının Haçlı seferlerine kadar uzandığı görülmüştür.

Abstract
In this article; The evolutionary stages and historical development of the cello, an important member of the stringed instrument family, its introduction to Turkish and Western music and its development process, usage areas and differences in two musical genres are discussed. The historical development and structural evolution of the instrument in Turkish Music and in the West have been examined, evaluated together with the political framework of the period, and important performers in the literature have been described. The emergence of Turkish Music, the incorporation of instruments into music, the importance attached to the Republic were explained. Famous performers of the period, the process of starting the instrument, famous composers who have composed in this field and their works are included. It has been seen that the instrument emerged as a response to the need and that its emergence goes back to the Crusades.
