Abstract
Geleneksel tedavi usûlleri; bir çok kültürde; asırlardan süzülmüş beceri, bilgi ve pratikleriyle hâlen kullanım bulmaktadır. Bir yandan mistik temalar ve hurafelerle bezenmiş olsalar da; diğer yandan modern tıbba benzer ve aklî boyutları mevcuttur. Bu anlamda aradaki fark esasen yapay yolla edilmiş bileşikler yerine doğal maddelere dayandığı gerçekliğine indirgenir; hattâ ananevî bilgilerin belli modern ecza ürünlerinin gelişimini desteklediği dahi bilinmektedir. Günümüzde, modern toplumlara giderek daha fazla “alternatif tıp” hüsn-ü tâbiri altında nûfuz eden bu alanın, iyileştirici kıymetini, tümden yadsımak zordur. Geleneksel şifanın bir olumsuz tesiri, bilhassa uzak doğuda, hastalarına ham madde tedâriki amacıyla dolaylı olarak yasa dışı avcılığı kışkırtmasıdır ki bu noktada başlıca maksadın cinsel gücü arttırıcı maddeler üzerine odaklandığı görülmektedir.

Abstract
Traditional methods of treatment of diseases are still in use with age-long knowledge, skills and practices; in many cultures. Though they are infiltrated with mystical themes and superstitions on one hand; on the other hand; they also are in possession of rational dimensions resembling modern medicine. In this respect, the difference between traditional and modern techniques is merely reduced to the fact that the former relies on natural substances, instead of synthetically synthesized compounds and is even known to have supported the development of certain modern pharmaceutical products. Nowadays; they are more and more penetrating into modern societies under the euphemistic title of “alternative medicine” and it is difficult to knock out their therapeutic value, entirely. A certain adverse effect of traditional cure, especially in the far east, is its indirect incitement of poaching, as a source of providing raw materials for its patients. Here in turn, the primary purpose seems to focus on aphrodisiac substances.
