Abstract
Hızlı kentleşme ve yapılan yanlış uygulamalarla, kentlerin tarihi dokularını kaybetmeye başladığı görülmektedir. Oysa tarihi dokular kent kimliğini oluşturan önemli yapılardır. Sahip oldukları dokusal özellikleri bulundukları şehirlerin kimliklerinin oluşturulmasında etkin rol oynamaktadır. Bu nedenle tarihi dokuların korunması, rehabilite edilmesi ve yeniden yaşatılması gerekmektedir. Çalışmada, Trabzon’da bulunan “Orta Mahalle” kentsel sit alanı, kültürel peyzaj değerleri açısından ele alınmıştır. Orta Mahalle, sahip olduğu mimari, yöresel ve gastronomi alanındaki özgünlüğü ile geçmiş ve gelecek arasında köprü görevi üstlenmektedir. Bu amaçla alanın günümüzdeki durumunu belirlenerek analizler yapılmıştır. Alanda bulunan dış mekân peyzaj bileşenleri; yapı analizi, yeşil alan analizi ve sokak analizi olmak üzere üç başlıkta irdelenmiştir. Çalışma sürecinde görsel analiz, yerinde sörvey teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Bu veriler doğrultusunda mevcut durum ve potansiyeller ortaya konulmuştur. Sonucunda Orta Mahalle’nin Trabzon’un tarihi dokusunu belirgin bir şekilde yansıttığı ve bu dokunun korunması gerekliliği vurgulanmıştır. Yapılacak çeşitli rehabilitasyon çalışmaları ve kullanım önerileri ile alanın sahip olduğu değerin olumlu yönden artacağı belirlenmiştir.

Abstract
Faulty applications due to rapid urbanization demonstrate that urban areas are in the process of losing their traditional texture. In fact, historical textures are the most significant factors that form the urban identity. The characteristics of the urban texture play a key role in the identity of that particular city. Therefore, historical textures must be preserved, rehabilitated and kept as living places. In this study “Orta Mahalle” protected area was investigated by focusing on its cultural landscape values. Orta Mahalle also functions as a bridge between the past and the future with its unique architectural and traditional properties. For this purpose, analyses were conducted to determine the present condition of this area. External landscape components were analyzed under the three main sections which are structural, street and green texture. Visual analysis and site survey techniques were used during the data collection. Based on available data, current status and potential of the study area was documented. As a result, it is concluded that Orta Mahalle reflects the traditional landscape character of Trabzon city and should be preserved by applying protection-use balance principals. Finally, the landscape value of the area can be promoted after necessary rehabilitations efforts.
