Abstract
Hızla gelişen teknolojiyle birlikte iletişim teknolojisi de son yıllarda fazlasıyla ilerleme kaydetmiştir. Özellikle gençler iletişim teknolojilerini yakından takip etmektedir. Bu teknolojinin bir getirisi olan sosyal medya gençler arasında her geçen gün yayılmaktadır. Bu durum beraberinde birtakım sorunları da getirmektedir. Sosyal medyayı kullananların mahremiyet ve özel alan sorunu problem olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin sosyal medyadaki mahremiyet algılarını çeşitli demografik değişkenlere göre incelemektir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin sosyal medyayı kullanma durumları, ne amaçla kullandıkları, kullanırken mahremiyet hususuna dikkat edip etmediklerini belirlemek de amaçlarımız arasındadır. Bu amaçlara ulaşabilmek maksadıyla 20 sorudan oluşan bir anket geliştirilmiş ve anket Bursa ilinde faaliyet gösteren dört farklı okulda (Ertuğrul Gazi Anadolu Lisesi, Nuri Erbak Anadolu Lisesi, Cem Sultan Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi, Ulubatlı Hasan Anadolu Lisesi) öğrenim gören 181 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Toplanan veriler SPSS programında analiz edilerek frekans dağılımları ve yüzdelikleri belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonunda ulaşılan bulgulara göre, ankete katılan öğrencilerin büyük bir kesiminin sosyal medyayı aktif olarak kullandığı ve sosyal medya kullanırken mahremiyet konusunda duyarlı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin sosyal medya kullanırken yabancılara karşı mahremiyet hususuna dikkat ettiği ancak; tanıdıklarına karşı bu hassasiyeti göstermediği ve onlara karşı özel alan sınırı koymadığı da çıkan sonuçlar arasındadır. Öğrencilere, mahremiyet ve özel alanın sadece gerçek yaşamda değil, sanal alemde de korunması ve dikkat edilmesi gerektiği belirtilmelidir.

Abstract
Along with the developing technologies, communication technology has made a great progress as well. Especially, young ones follow the progress in communication technology closely. As a product of this technology, social network is spread among the young ones day by day. This brings some problems. Social network users’ conceptions of privacy and private area turn out to be a problematic situation. The aim of this study is to analyze the conception of privacy on social network in various demographic variables. This study also aims to analyze students’ social network usage status, their intended use and determine whether they care about the privacy issues. In order to reach these aims, a 20-questions survey is prepared and it is issued to 181 students from 4 high schools (Ertuğrul Gazi, Nuri Erbak and Ulubatlı Hasan Anatolian High Schools and Cem Sultan Anatolian İmam Hatip High School). The collected data is analyzed in SPSS software package and frequency distributions and percentages are identified. According to the acquired data, the results point that most of the students that were participated in the survey use the social network actively and they are sensitive about the privacy issues when they use it. It is also found that although these students are sensitive about the privacy issues of others, they do not show this sensitivity to their acquaintances on social network and they do not have a private sphere limit for them. It must be stated that, privacy and private sphere are not only present in real life; it must be preserved and treated carefully also in the cyber world.
