Abstract
Bu çalışma, kentsel güvenlik olgusuna odaklanan betimsel bir inceleme çalışmasıdır. Yazının ana amacı, güvenlikte oluşmaya başlayan dönüşüm sürecini incelemek ve güvenlik anlayışının kentsel boyutunu konu almaktır. Kent güvenliği çalışmamızda, güvenlik olgusuna etki eden belirleyici etkeni, kentin sorun kaynağı haline gelmesi oluşturmaktadır. Toplumda artan demokratikleşme sonucunda, demokratik ve hoşgörülü kamu hizmetlerine olan talep artmakta yeni sorunlar ve gereksinimler ortaya çıkmaktadır. Ayrıca, güvenlik sorunları, suç ve terör olayları da hızla artmaktadır. Kentsel alanlar değişimin yaşandığı yerler olarak, güvenlik ihtiyacının arttığı alanlar haline gelmektedir. Kentin sorunlarının artması, güvenliğin kapsamını genişleterek kentsel güvenlik gerekliliğini ortaya çıkarmıştır.

Abstract
This study is a descriptive study focusing on the urban security phenomenon. The main purpose of the article is to examine the transformation process at the security and to analyze the urban part of security understanding. In our urban security study, the determining factor affecting the security phenomenon is the fact that the cities are becoming source of problems. As result of the increasing democratization of society, the demand for democratic and tolerant public services is increasing new challenges and needs arise. Besides, there is rapid increase at security problems, crime and terror events. Security needs are increasing at urban areas which are experiencing changes. The increase in problems of city, expanding the scope of security has emerged the need for urban security.
