Abstract

The purpose of the study is to bring in the third part of diachronic conversation on instructional design with Robert Gagné and David Merrill to the language of Turkish. In July 1989, Robert Gagné from Florida State University and David Merrill from Utah State University shared and discussed their views on instructional design at Utah State University. During the third session, they try to find some common ground as well as depicting differences of their viewpoints.In the third session, both Gagné and Merrill engages in cognitive psychological bases of instructional design. The notions of procedural and declarative knowledge that are stated by Gagné are discussed in terms of how they correspond to Merrill’s theory. Moreover, they discussed how expert systems may affect the design of instruction.
