Abstract
Latife Tekin, Gece Dersleri romanında genelde Türkiye’nin panoramasını çizerken özelde kadının otorite ve toplumsal normlar karşısındaki tutumunu mercek altına alır. 1980 darbesiyle sosyal ve ekonomik eğilimleri yeniden belirleyen otoritenin kendi meşruiyetini sağlamlaştırmak için takındığı tavır, dönem insanını ve sonraki kuşakları doğrudan etkiler. Toplumun bir ferdi olan Latife Tekin, bu değişim, dönüşüm sürecine kayıtsız kalamaz. Bu dönemde hız kazanan kentleşme ve gecekondulaşmanın ürettiği yeni kültürde tutunmaya ve var olmaya çalışan Gülfidan’ın çelişki ve çatışmalarla kendini ifade etme çabası, anlatının temel dinamiğini besleyen noktadır. Latife Tekin’in çoğu roman karakteri gibi Gülfidan da edilgin ya da kendisine sunulan şartlara uyum sağlayan bir karakter değildir. İktidarın otoriter uygulamalarına ve sanayileşmenin dayatmalarına karşıt duruş geliştiren Gülfidan, metin boyunca iç sorgulamalarla benliğindeki huzursuzluğu sezdirir. Metnin tamamında egemen olan karamsar havanın roman kişilerinin ruh haliyle koşut yürüdüğü ifade edilebilir. Tekin, zaman ve mekân kavramlarının derinliğini Gülfidan’ın algıladığı haliyle şekillendirirken aynı tutumu dilde de gösterir. Böylece bütün yapı unsurlarını tema ile bütünleştirerek oldukça etkileyici bir karşıt duruş metni ortaya koyar.

Abstract
Latife Tekin, in her novel Night Lessons, generally paints a panorama of Turkey while specifically examining women's attitudes towards authority and social norms. The stance taken by the authority that redefined social and economic trends following the 1980 coup, in order to consolidate its own legitimacy, directly affects the people of that era and subsequent generations. As a member of society, Latife Tekin cannot remain indifferent to this process of change and transformation. Gülfidan's struggle to express herself through contradictions and conflicts as she tries to hold on and exist in the new culture produced by the rapid urbanisation and slum development of this period is the point that fuels the fundamental dynamic of the narrative. Like most of Latife Tekin's characters, Gülfidan is not passive or compliant with the conditions presented to her. Developing a stance against the authoritarian practices of the government and the impositions of industrialization, Gülfidan reveals her inner turmoil through internal questioning throughout the text. It can be said that the pessimistic atmosphere that dominates the entire text runs parallel to the mood of the novel's characters. Tekin shapes the depth of the concepts of time and space as Gülfidan perceives them, and she displays the same attitude in her language. Thus, by integrating all structural elements with the theme, she creates a highly impressive text of opposition.
