Abstract
Giyim kavramı geçmişten günümüze toplumsal, kültürel, ekonomik, politik, inanç, cinsiyet gibi birçok durumların etkisinde olmuştur. Giyim olgusu aynı zamanda sembolik değerleri de kapsamaktadır. Toplumlar bu değerler çerçevesinde giyim biçimlerini oluştururken bu durum bazen tarihte toplumsal sorunları beraberinde getirmiştir. Sembolik bir değer taşıyan ve sadece erkek giyim parçası olarak görülen pantolon ise bun durumun somut bir göstergesi olmuştur. Özellikle Batılı toplumların pantolon giyimini kadınlar için yasaklamaları kadınların bu durum karşısında sessiz kalmayışlarıyla bozulmuştur. Radikal bir değişim yaşanarak Batıda sonunda kadınlar pantolon giyimi için başlattıkları mücadeleyi kazanabilmişlerdir. Sıradan gibi görünen pantolon aslında tarihte çok önemli bir yere sahip olmuştur. Bu çalışmada tarihte çok tartışılan kadın giyiminde devrim niteliğini taşıyan pantolonun tarihsel süreci, kadınların pantolon kullanımını etkileyen politik faktörler, kadınların ve tasarımcıların bu devrim niteliğindeki yeni modayı nasıl benimsenip kullanıldığına ilişkin bilgilerin ortaya konması amaç edinilmiştir. Araştırma tarama modeli olup, betimsel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında ele alınan pantolon ile ilgili ayrıntılı literatür taramasında dergiler, gazeteler, fotoğraflar, filmlerden de yararlanılarak bu bilgiler ışığında çalışmanın iskeleti oluşturulmuştur. Batı ve Türkiye’de politik olayların kadın pantolon giyimine nasıl etki ettiği tarihte kadınların pantolon kullanımı, bu modayı benimseyip sunan tasarımcılara ilişkin veriler gruplandırılmış ayrıntılı olarak analiz edilerek yorumlanmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma birincil kaynaklardan elde edilen veriler ve yapılan literatür taramaları doğrultusunda hem Türk giyim tarihi hem de Batı moda tarihi alanında çalışmalar yapacak olanlara katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

Abstract
The phenomenon of clothing has been under the influence of many situations such as sociological, political, religion, art and gender from past to present. The phenomenon of clothing also includes symbolic values. While societies create their clothing styles within the framework of these values, this has sometimes brought about social problems in history. Trousers, which have a symbolic value and are seen only as a piece of men's clothing, have become a concrete indicator of this situation. Especially Western societies' ban on women wearing trousers was ruined by women's failure to remain silent in the face of this situation. A radical change took place and women in the West were finally able to win the fight they started for wearing trousers. Trousers that seem ordinary have actually had a very important place in history.The aim of this study is to reveal information about the historical process of trousers, which have been a revolution in women's clothing, which has been much discussed in history, the political factors affecting women's use of trousers, and how women and designers adopted and used this revolutionary new fashion. The research is a survey model and descriptive method was used. In the detailed literature review about the trousers discussed within the scope of the study, magazines, newspapers, photographs, and films were used and the framework of the study was created in the light of this information. What political events in the West and Turkey affected women's trouser wearing, data on women's use of trousers in history and the designers who adopted and presented this fashion were grouped, analyzed in detail and tried to be interpreted. It is thought that the study will contribute to those who will study both Turkish clothing history and Western fashion history, in line with the data obtained from primary sources and literature reviews.
