Abstract
Varlığımızın başından itibaren doğrudan tanığı bizizdir, bizim benliğimizdir. İzleyeceğimiz yolda, tercihlerimizde benliğimizle hareket ederiz. Bundan dolayı anlamlandırma faaliyeti üzerinden benlik kendisini bulur. Benliğinin olduğunu düşünen insan bu benliği yaşadıkları çerçevesinde düşünerek, anlamlandırarak doldurur. Varoluşçuluk felsefesinde anlamlandırmanın bir düşünme sistemi olduğu kabul görmüştür. Düşünme faaliyeti bir insan faaliyetidir. Bu bizim insan olarak varlığımızdan ayrı mümkün değildir. İnsan, benliğini düşünerek inşa eder. Bir bakıma insan istediği takdirde kendi özünü tasarlayabilme yeteneğine sahiptir. Toplum içerisinde kendi benlikleri ile varlıklarını ortaya koyan kimseler vardır. Tüm bu düşüncelerden yola çıkarak verilebilecek en iyi örnek de sanatçılardır. Bir sanat eseri aynı zamanda yaratıcısının benlik temsilidir. Bu makalede benlik tartışması üzerinden Merleau-Ponty çalışmaları sanatla bağdaştırılarak değerlendirilmiştir.

Abstract
From the very beginning of our existence, we are the direct witness of ourself. We act with our selves on the path we will follow, in our choices. Therefore, the self finds itself through the activity of making sense. A person who thinks he has a self fills this self by thinking and making sense within the framework of his experiences. In the philosophy of existentialism, it has been accepted that signification is a thinking system. Thinking activity is a human activity. This is not possible apart from our existence as human beings. Man builds himself by thinking. In a way, man has the ability to design his own essence if he wishes. There are people who reveal their existence with their own selves in society. The best example that can be given based on all these thoughts is the artists. A work of art is also the self-representation of its creator. In this article, Merleau-Ponty studies have been evaluated through the discussion of the self in conjunction with art.
