Abstract

Words related to human health are in the basic vocabulary of a language and have a high frequency of use. Words expressing deficiencies and imperfections in the body are also part of this vocabulary. A very rich concept area has been created in our language about the eye which one of our five senses organs. This rich concept area used in the eye has been witnessed in written sources from the Old Turkic period of the Turkic language. In the context of this article, the words related to the eye defects we detected in the rich vocabulary of Mamluk-Kipchak language will be analyzed with a comparative method and the situation of the related words in Kazakh, one of the Modern Kipchak dialects, will be evaluated. In this way, it is aimed to reveal to what extent it is preserved and what changes it has undergone in the Kazakh language while determining the reflections of the health-related vocabulary in Kipchak language in the Kazakh language.
