However, this situation also creates importing and dependency on the foreign originated pharmaceuticsThe pharmaceutics imported by Turkey is comprised of 7% of the foreign trade deficit in Turkey. In this study, we aimed to assess the effects of foreign investments on pharmaceutical sector in Turkey. In conclusion, we revealed that foreign investments had both positive and negative effects on the Turkish sector. The restrictions on free movement of goods across EU borders and high R&D costs cause that foreign corporates occupy Turkish market against domestic pharmaceutical firms.
