It is known that women’s representation in selected organs of local governments in Turkey is very low. The studies carried out in this process give important information about the mentioned problematic, actually it is generally agreed in the presence of the "social sex" obstacles in front of the participation of women in working life or in politics. When we look at the number of women elected among local government units, it is understood that this ratio is at a level which is quite low compared to the world. Although this subject has already undergone various researches on the representation of women in the elected bodies of local governments, the role and number of women among appointed managers of local units have not been examined. In this article, the role of women in the management of the municipalities was assessed in a special way by managers who work in the metropolitan municipalities and are authorized to appoint the mayor. As a result, the number of women elected in the framework of information obtained from thirty metropolitan municipalities has been compared.
