Abstract

Museums have an important mission in transferring cultural and national values from generation to generation. In this context, it is important for the child to acquire the museum consciousness at an early age in the context of value education in schools. It is the purpose of this research that reveal beliefs classroom teacher candidates who have an important place in this responsibility about museums and which values they gain. The research was conducted as a case study (case study) by interviewing 18 students who were studying in the Department of Elementary Teacher Education at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Education. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and content analysis techniques. As a result of the research, the class teacher candidates think that museums gain values such as respect, nationalism, patience, goodness and history consciousness, especially empathy (n = 13) and patriotism (n = 4).
