Abstract

The rape is a sexual crime committed against the spiritual and physical integrity of the person, as well as, the mental and physical integrity of the society. The rape cases that deeply shook the family privacy were causing the unrest and insecurity in the Ottoman society. The Ottoman government was not indifferent to such cases. On the contrary, the government always tried to ınterfere with these events for the restoration of peace and security in the society, also protect the rights of both the perpetrator and the victim. The purpose of this research is to investigate the " rape" cases, which are sexual crime, in the light of the records in the Ottoman archives and to show the role of the perpetrators and victims of this crime in the moral values of the Ottoman society, by emphasizing the reactions of the state and the society oppose such cases.
