Abstract

Oral culture texts has distinctive features in point of form and content and they always had the most important study objects in folkloristics. The theory of oral composition has led to new perspectives in folklore studies. After this development, the second half of the 20th century has resulted in development of different dimensions about folk narratives especially in epic narratives. Oral composition theory was built based on peotry genres. In this situition, the concepts and methods of oral composition theory have been serious obstacle applying to prose narratives. However, they had been many studies on oral culture narratives considering the different aspects of the field. Some formal elements that have in the folk tales (beginning, end and the formal transition) is often emphasized in research on the subject.
